Bad Tölz

History and Elegance

The Isarcity of Bad Tölz has a baroque style and is colorful. Since being awarded the market rights in 1281 Bad Tölz has been growing constantly until today. The beautifully colored murals are real masterpieces and are typical  for the beautiful citizens houses of the Marktstraße. They show bibical motives as well as the wishes and hopes of the inhabitants and they often also give a sample of the typical bavarian humour.

The walking tour to Tölz´s Hausberg Blomberg and Zwiesel is an easy mountain tour with the following possibilities to ascent:

The easiest way to get up is by chairlift (Blombergbahn). By that the ascent to the mountain peak only takes a few minutes. From the mountain rescute hut you follow the marked way past the Blomberghaus to the already visible summit cross of the Zwiesel.

Bus connections to the Blombergbahn: RVO Line 9612

Visit the Local Museum

The Local Museum has five floors with an exhibition space of approximatly 1.500 qm. You will discover various products of the Tölz Kistler-guild e.g. wardrobes, chests, beds and numerous other colorful painted or carved citizens- and farmers furniture that became famous and well known in the bavarian country and elsewhere.

These furniture have been an example for many carpenters. Today the Tölz home museum can look upon a hundred year old history and numerous traditions. The importance of the museum lies less in the accumulation of art historical wealth. But the collected treasures are set together to a jigsaw so that the history and culture is explained and shown in a simplified and illustrated manner.
